Just like many of you, I accidentally lurked into copywriting about six months ago, wondering how to restart my career that I left behind three years ago as an IT professional in a top corporate. I was exploring opportunities for freelance blogging. It was then I discovered that copywriting is a thing! It felt more lucrative than blogging. And I had a better chance of finding clients. Because a new business may or may not need blog content, but they will undoubtedly need a brilliant copy for their website, products, email newsletters, social media promotions, Ads, and case studies. Studies show that 2020 has been the year of startups, and it is only going to rise.
Initially, I was beyond overwhelmed at the numerous copywriting books, hundreds of FB groups, and everything did seem out of the world. But within a month, one group that I follow felt very special to me. It is “The Copy Cooks Club.” Not only could I be my vulnerable self here, but business owners were also looming here trying to improve their website copy.
Everyone pitches in to help a small business get their tag line or their sales page critiqued. It was more like a mastermind group. The master of that mastermind group is my Copywriting Guru, Tamsin Henderson. I took her top-rated course on Udemy, “The Complete Copywriting Course: Write to Sell Like a Pro,” and it is GOLD. Nearly 40,000 students have taken it, and it is the best selling copywriting course out there. I am more confident pitching for clients after the class, as I applied all the formulas I learned. There was no more second-guessing and more practical application. And I got more successful bagging clients too.
Sometime in late September, Tamsin launched a new FREE course called “Find your Copywriting Super Niche Challenge!” to find your perfect market fit. That kind of thing exists. You can write better copy when you match your interests with the industry.
So I was up for the super-niche challenge to explore my strengths (interests) and see if I can find a profitable market for it. Then I would narrow down that path to hunt for clients. It runs for 5-days, and you’ll meet hundreds who are out to find out their super niche too. Tamsin has tailored the challenge into fun, no-stress tasks every day of the five days. The activities help to discover your strengths, personal interests, ways to uncover industries that match the services you can offer, and how to go about finding them. You need to fill out the super-niche workbook (downloadable) with your findings at the end of every day. Building upon all that, you need to write down the next actionable steps that give you a clear roadmap. It was exciting reading what other members discovered about themselves. Ultimately I found two great niches that I could pursue. I even created an affiliate website in November based on the result, and I can see some traction happening there.
Super Niche Challenge is for you if you’re confused about your niche and looking for a sense of direction in your writing or copywriting career. It’s like a North star to steer your freelance copywriting career in a direction where you can find success. This course is a prelude to one of her other best-sellers, titled “Proof-Sells,” about writing a compelling and converting case study. It is okay if you are not taking that course, but I highly recommend taking advantage of the FREE Super Niche challenge. The doors for it are opening shortly, and you can get in by directly requesting access on the SUPER NICHE page or signing up for her newsletter
PS: She’s put together; two more courses, “Build your copywriting portfolio from scratch” and “Browsers to Buyers, 21 Powerful Website Copywriting Hacks”. It was worth it for me, and it can help you too if you feel lost in the freelance copywriting world.
I am not paid for writing this, but I know this is one of the best copywriting courses and groups you’ll ever find.
